NN’s Board of Trustees congratulate Catherine Hemelryk on her appointment as Director at CCA Derry~Londonderry. Catherine first joined NN as Curator in 2011 at Fishmarket and was promoted to Artistic Director following the 2012 offsite season and move to the organisations current home at Number Nine Guildhall Road. Catherine led the organisation to achieving NPO status from Arts Council England in 2017 and she will take up her new role at CCA in August 2018.
Tom Higginson, NN’s Chair of the Board, commented, “Catherine did a brilliant job achieving NPO status for NN. It is down to her sheer hard work, skill, passion, enthusiasm and a fantastically critical artistic eye. Catherine deserves to succeed and it is a feather in our cap to loose her to such a brilliant space.”
As well as maintaining her independent practice, during Catherine’s time at NN she curated over 50 exhibitions and commissioned artists from recent graduates to Venice biennale award winners as well as making artist publications, running CPD events, local and international collaborations and partnerships with leading galleries, theatres, dance agencies and universities.
Tom Higginson continues, “Catherine leaves a fantastic legacy which is the perfect foundation for NN to build upon. We are very excited about our future and the delivery of a strong contemporary art programme in Northampton.”
NN will be recruiting a new role following Catherine’s departure, a full time Artistic Director/CEO in the coming weeks.Visit www.NNContemporaryArt.org/Get-
