Make sure you visit NN this week to have a final look at the current exhibition by Claire Jarvis. The show presents a new body of work by Claire starting with Neonate (2016), a giant white latex balloon filling the entrance hall. The exhibition takes you through Claire’s journey into parenthood with high chairs, piles of Dairylea triangles, grapefruit and monolithic towers of washing tablets. Claire works predominantly with oil on canvas creating painterly surfaces with depth and delicate applications of colour in her work that ranges in scale from small, intimate still lives of discarded rags to monumental depictions of tightly, twisted silver foil.
Claire Jarvis graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2009 and is based in Northampton. She will lead a tour of her work on the final day of the exhibition on 30 April 2016, 2pm. Book your free place here or at the front desk at NN.
