Drawings: Emma Wilde

  • Date:
    26 May–17 June 2012

When: 26 May – 17 June 2012
Where: Market Walk Shopping Centre, off Abington Street, Northampton, NN1 2DP

Artist Emma Wilde has turned this empty shop into a working studio. She is undertaking a residency for three weeks with the shop studio as her base to make new work. Her drawings look at the locale as she depicts the buildings and nature around her and their relationship – weeds or trees encroaching upon urban space, or perhaps vice versa.

Working in pencil and ground charcoal with watercolour on paper, Emma’s drawings are delicate examinations of her environment – in this case, the centre of Northampton. Emma lived in Northampton as a child and this residency is brings her back to a place familiar but changed and allows her to rediscover the town through photography and drawing.

Emma will be working in the studio and out on location around Northampton from 26 May until 17 June, Wednesday – Sundays. Drop by to see her intricate drawings take shape during that time.EVENTSCrit Group
