We are pleased to announce that NN Contemporary Art has been granted a provisional lease for occupancy of the ground and basement floors of 24 Guildhall Road Block D.
We will be moving throughout December and will resultantly no longer be operating from no. 9 Guildhall Road.
Due to the private sale of 9 Guildhall Road (NN’s current premises), the organisation has been working with the Borough Council to secure a new suitable premise, that allows for the development of the organisation’s ambitions as Northampton’s leading Contemporary Art Gallery and fulfilment of our mission and objectives as an ACE (Arts Council England) NPO (National Portfolio Organisation).
NN Contemporary believes that a strong artistic community is an essential part of Northampton’s cultural identity and that public spaces dedicated to Art are crucial for both residents and visitors. In order to ensure that the Cultural Quarter of Northampton has culture and the arts retained and embedded in its future, we have been working to develop 24 Guildhall Road as a new arts complex for Northampton, and have begun the design consultation process on building a new contemporary art gallery, and the remaining floors as co-authored, cultural spaces. The move will increase of our artist studio complex, provide new, improved public spaces, upgrading our current offer through a fully accessible project room, an education space and a newly designed civic reading room, that will open to the public in April 2020.
For the next couple of months, our programme will move to various offsite projects, a full programme for which will be announced in January 2020.
We’d like to thank everyone who visited, participated and engaged with our programme at no.9 Guildhall Road, and we look forward to welcoming you to our new home next year.
