Project Space: Emma Davies
From 2-5 August 2017, Emma Davies will be in NN’s Project Space exploring Diversity, Education, Money and Environment as part of her project, You can’t shake hands with a clenched fist.
Over the course of the week Emma will create her own peaceful protest – an immersive installation, using the whole space, in participation with the public. Within the interior will be strung brightly coloured cardboard shapes, resembling a maze of washing lines.
Emma says, “Around the world, there have been many peaceful protests and revolutions that have used colour to act as a symbol in describing the reasons for each. Within the visual arts, colour is a powerful tool with which to communicate and more generally, artists can act as conduits for expressing societal angers and frustrations.”
